I have been blessed to have amazing friends who are willing to do whatever it takes to reach their dreams. A friend of mine is on the road to competing in the National Black USA pageant. She currently holds the title for Miss Black Massachusetts. Want to know more? Read her statement below.
My name is Kamisha Lauture and I am a rising junior at Babson College.
On January 30th, 2014 I was given the title “Miss Black MA USA 2014”, an accomplishment I am very proud of. I am honored to be representing the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as I will be competing for the national title “Miss Black USA” on August 8th in Washington D.C.
As a titleholder, I am raising awareness about Heart Disease since it is the #1 killer of women. I am also empowering our youths to be confident and driven individuals.
In the past few months I have been featured in the Boston Globe and in the Brockton Enterprise News. Here are the links to the articles:

The Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant<http://www.missblackusa.org/> is a wonderful organization because it embraces all shapes and sizes, as well as helps women develop the whole mind, body, and spirit. I am very excited to be a part of this movement.
Currently, I am trying my best to gain as much community support to help me pay the expenses for the national pageant which is less than one month away. I have set up a GoFundMe page to help me raise funds. My goal is to raise $4400 in order to cover my travel expenses and to be fully prepared for the competition.
With that being said, would you consider contributing to my expenses? I would greatly appreciate any amount. However, if you cannot do so, sharing my fundraising page to others would be just as appreciated. Here is the link:

I hope you can join me on my quest for the crown.
