Life’s Lessons

Life often has a way of teaching you lessons that you really don’t think are necessary for you to learn, but whether you find value in them or not you receive them in whatever forms they come.

So, things that I have learned tonight:

1. People only care enough to the point that it does not inconvenience them and those that really love you will not be satisfied with the weak “I’m fine” that you offer to attempt to avoid discussing what is actually bothering you.

2. You should not feel guilty for your level of commitment to those that you love and should not allow their actions to make you feel bad for committing to them.

3. Relationships in whatever form they come are messy and painful and it is necessary for you to decide which ones you believe are worth getting a little muddied for.

4. Some things and people just aren’t worth fighting for or over.

5. Sometimes you just have to cry. You don’t want to talk or share or work it out. Sometimes crying is the only thing that heals.

6. Not everyone is going to respect those tears or the fact that they are falling, but they will fall nonetheless, so cry your river and move on.

And when life teaches you things, you can search for the value, find it and move on or you can dwell on it, but the latter does you absolutely no good.
